Why Herb Freedom?

As you are no doubt aware, many powerful and beneficial herbs are denied us. The prohibition of psychoactive herbs has created even larger problems for society, manifesting in more potent and dangerous chemical drugs and ever-increasing addiction and “drug war”.

It is even harder to understand the restriction of herbs that are purely medicinal in their actions. Although, when you perceive the immense profit the pharmaceutical companies make from our illnesses, especially when natural alternatives to synthetic chemical medicines are not available, perhaps it is not so hard...

Plants and humans have enjoyed an intimate relationship since the dawn of time! Without plants to provide our food, clothing, building materials, medicines and spiritual journeys, human culture would simply not exist! It is a fundamental human right to have unrestriced access to our allies, the plants. We long to see a day when the people can once again grow the plants for all their psychoactive and medicinal needs in their gardens with joy and freedom!

The separation from plants is bringing about our own social downfall. But do not despair, we can all, each of us, do something for change.

This repression of herbs is man-made and therefore we have the power to change things. The power of one. One on one we can affect change.

Simple ways to make a difference

• Discuss herb freedom with friends and acquaintances at every opportunity. You will discover that most people have no idea about the intense restrictions placed on herbs in Australia, not about the sinister agendas that lie behind them!

• Use your power as a consumer: choose the original plant medicines over the chemical copies

• One of the biggest problems is the lack of transparency around the reasons for and the processes by which plants become illegal or restricted in Australia. Query the Therapeutic Goods Administration and the NDPSC (National Drugs and Poisons Schedule Committee) on the reasons they give for scheduling natural herbs and remedies. • Politicians are elected to represent our attitudes and rights in Parliament. Write to State and Federal health ministers of your concerns about the fast approach of CODEX ALIMENTARIS which could soon regulate herbs out of existence.

• Contact your local politician and get him or her on side with your cause for herbs.

• Inform The Prime Minister of the injustice of our laws against nature

• Send protest letters to the editors of local and national newspapers and magazines

• GROW! The simplest way to create fundamental change in our society is to take action into your own hands! Grow these herbs and enjoy them. Pass seedlings onto friends and neighbours.

• Plant a herb or a tree each day and if we all did that, the planet would soon return to its garden of eden.
